Finally! A master closet makeover REVEAL! It feels like it took forever to get the last few pieces in place to get this closet reveal done, but I do think it was worth the wait.
And clearly we are more than a little excited over here. Or crazy. Or both. (BTW, check out the before and the in-progress to jog your memory!)
Metrie creates a variety of gorgeous trims, doors, wainscoting, moulding, and more — and it’s all with a very distinct designer-ly spin. I was attracted to their gorgeous Then & Now Collectionsand I wanted to honor the traditional bones of our late 1960s house. While I can’t get enough of the glamourous Fashion Forward line, I felt like the Pretty Simple collection was going to be the best way to go to keep everything consistent with the rest of our house. These doors are absolutely beautiful, and the quality speaks for itself. I simply love how they turned out. For this project, we required 7 doors total: 2 pairs for the 2 reach-in closets, and 1 for the entry door, 1 for the master bath, and 1 for the walk-in closet.
They are so deliciously dramatic. We had existing hardware for all the original doors, which we reused, but for the closet doors, I ordered new Emtek lucite knobs (similar).
The view of the pair of closets from the bed. With the ginormo TV that Simon got. Unrelated, but have you heard of TCL tvs? It was a brand we weren’t aware of, but wowza – it’s the best picture quality we’ve ever had. And it was seriously affordable.
The closet on the right is where I store all our spare towels, kingsize linens, travel accessories, etc. It’s all on an IKEA Fjalkinge shelf, which is one of my most favorite Ikea pieces ever.
And on the left, I keep pajamas, accessories, tshirts, and other goodies.
The dresser is from the Ikea Hemnes collection and I’ve had it for years. I replaced the hardware with these lucite and brass knobs from Ballard Designs.
And on the inside door, I’ve got a row of clear Command Hooks to house all my belts, longer necklaces, and other accessories.
Overall, we’ve really been able to maximize our storage needs. You know I’m always preaching the merits of form AND function, and these definitely fit the bill.
Big big thanks to the lovely team at Metrie for making this makeover possible. And thanks for supporting the brands that Pencil Shavings Studio partners with! Check out the entire line at Metrie — their selection of trims, mouldings, and doors truly is unparalleled.
