ABC Carpet & Home

Style

One of our favorite places to hit in NYC is ABC Carpet & Home. Amy and Eric first took me there when I was fifteen, and it was unlike anything I had ever seen. Six floors (and a basement) full of the most amazing housewares, furniture, accessories, and of course rugs, it was merchandised so deliciously. And it never fails to amaze me, even now almost 15(!) years later.

I’m kicking myself that I didn’t take any photos of their Christmas decorations. it was like a fairy land of color and glitter, with tons of vintage ornaments. Delicious.

This chandelier (below) is stunning. STUNNING.

A cheery display of Eames chairs, among others.

Again with the chandelier below. ABC has always had the most eyeball-popping display of chandeliers.

This section had seemingly endless amounts of handsome Chesterfield sofas. I’m surprised that I’m as drawn to the shape as I am, but there’s something so masculine and appealing about them. You can get a glimpse of this English-inspired one below.

But the real star of the show, in my mind, are the rugs.

Ohhh the rugs. In every shade, arranged by color.

It’s impossible to tell how large these rugs are. The scale of them is just so huge as they hang in the cavernous loft space there on Broadway.

We spent the longest time, probably, in the Madeline Weinrib showroom. MW is related in some way to the ABC founders, and so this is the homebase. I could have rolled up and died of happiness in those rugs.

Pillows! le sigh!

If you ever get the opportunity, go straight to ABC. You won’t ever want to leave.

with love,
Rachel
