Pompoms! Tassels! Polka dots! Stripes! Christmas is HERE!
For the past nine months, I’ve been planning and scheming with the Crossings Women’s Ministry girls to help out with Home for the Holidays, the annual event the church puts together to kick off the holiday season. But this year we ramped it up a bit and I invited the delightful Jennifer from Dimples & Tangles to partner up with me for our session on decorating in color. I LOVE LOVE LOVE how this whole evening turned out. Over six hundred women came to the event that boasted plenty of classes on decor, baking, entertaining and hospitality and of those 600, we had probably 100 in our group alone.
It makes me so happy to get together with fellow color lovers and create something really magical and I truly believe that’s what we accomplished together. It was over-the-top and happy in all the best ways, and I hope that all the attendees were able to walk away with some great ideas to integrate into their homes.
Look how fun we are in our crazy stripes – LOVE. I was a punk and had almost completely lost my voice (THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR COLD, ARCHER) and poor Jen had to really step it up and take one for the team speaking to the group, but she had so many great tips and ideas.
Overall, we both love decorating with things that we’ve hunted down from local shops, Etsy, Craigslist, garage sales, Target, Hobby Lobby, etc. and it’s all about making the every day magical for the season. We used oodles of shatterproof ornaments, fuzzy pompom and felt garlands, bottle brush trees, twinkle lights, paper fans, and added pops of black and white throughout.
I didn’t know that I needed a disco ball til Jennifer showed up with hers, but NOW I DO.
More to come on holiday decorating ideas as we barrel on towards the Christmas season!
