It’s a colorful life: Christmas Home Tour

Celebrations

It’s a colorful life always here at Pencil Shavings, but this year after partnering up with Jennifer from Dimples & Tangles for our holiday decorating class, we figured we might as well throw  a fun blog-hop together for all our fellow color-loving friends.  When you get done here, I’ll be sending you on your merry colorful way with a link to the next blog!

And a quick note to say welcome to everyone who’s here from Mum Little Loves!!  Hope you guys stick around awhile — and do give a quick follow on Instagram too!

It’s no secret that I rarely do anything the same way when it comes to my holiday decor (although the white tree tends to be the mainstay). And true to form, this year I was feeling all the inspiration from our cozy living room makeover. I’m especially loving all the pops of pale blue against the red and white, so I decided to run with it — and I grabbed all those bold bottle brush trees from Hobby Lobby to dot throughout the room. I don’t know what it is about red trees this year that feels so fresh. I saw these insane (real!) flocked trees in Paris last week and it reaffirmed my entire love of red trees (AND OMG THE PINK).

On our main tree, I kept the ornaments all in red with pops of pale blue, and then integrated some Schumacher trim I had lying around as the icing on the proverbial cake.

I haven’t gotten around to hanging our stockings yet – I tried to get the majority of the decorating done before I left for Paris but ehh. Some things are just going to have to wait a bit still.  But I’m pretty sure that sweet little red vintage reindeer will welcome them once they finally deign to grace us with their presence.

Meanwhile, in the adjoining kitchen and breakfast nook, I’ve got a continuation on a theme happening.

I’m in love with the colorblocked glass jars I picked up at market a few weeks ago. Add a few fairy lights and ornaments and boom — instant happy.

Ok, that’s round 1 of all the Christmas happiness! Now get yourself over to The Pink Clutch ASAP for some more Christmas goodness. You will LOVE what she’s created!
