Alys Beach: Our Must-See Favorites on 30A

Travel

Architecture & design lovers, I’ve got the place for you. Chic and sunny Alys Beach, with its crisp mashup of Caribbean and Moorish-inspired luxury homes has eye candy around every corner. One of our instant favorites when we visited 30A in Florida years ago, it was barely getting started and we were anxious to return on this trip.

Each of the little towns and neighborhoods dotting 30A has its own personality. Where Seaside and Rosemary Beach are bustling, Alys Beach is coolly simple and refreshing with the all-white exteriors and pops of unexpected color. We love hitting Charlie’s Donuts in the morning for breakfast before they sell out (ERMAHGERRD the red velvet donuts!!) and grabbing a coffee from Fonville Press.  Their unusual playground was delightful with its unorthodox design.

I think next time we go to Florida we’ll try to stay in one of the rentals in Alys. I’m crazy inspired by the architecture and the simplistic design. Most of the houses have these hidden interior courtyards and tiny plunge pools. We drove around one evening and there was something mesmerizing about the flickering gas lamps and peeks into the houses with the lights on inside.

IF YOU GO TO ALYS BEACH

  • Eat at George’s (NOT TO BE MISSED), Neat, Fonville Press, or Piper’s Kitchen
  • Hit the Alys Beach Shoppe and Mast, a new home decor shop
  • Stay in one of these faaaab houses.
  • Ogle the stunning Caliza pool and grab drinks there one night
  • Ride bikes and soak up all the architecture

So many great details, right? I mean I could write a book on the amazing doors and gates alone. Pin that away to your Pinterest account stat!!
