One of my earliest memories is wearing a sunny yellow dress in a swiss dot pattern and that color memory has informed a lot of my own personal design decisions. And one of my faaaaaaavorite ways to use it is in upholstery. I don’t know what it is about a yellow upholstered sofa or chair, but it just rings my bell big time. A bright sunny yellow plays well with a ton of different shades: navy (for those who are wanting something a little more subdued and preppy), bright cobalt, hot pink, emerald green, black (if you love a good taxi cab color scheme), and everybody’s current favorite neutral (gray!).
A few weeks ago I snagged these Milo Baughman-esque parsons armchairs on eBay for a song and I knew IMMEDIATELY what I wanted to do with them: a gorgeous canary velvet would be sheer perfection!
I’ve been working with Ketch Design Centre here in OKC and hopefully they’ll be ready any day!
In the meantime, these are my favorite citrus yellow inspiration shots.
I CANNOT EVEN. I die. That Clarence House wallpaper with those chairs. I MEAN COME ON.
Still drooling over Mindy Kaling’s office makeover by Nathan Turner in Domino. YUM. A great way to show that you can use yellow and red together without it being straight up ketchup and mustard.
I looove this library. So yummy and inviting looking. I think this would be fabulous with navy walls and millwork.
The Viceroy again (as seen in that first shot above). It is so so chic. The lamps are ENORMOUS.
