I’ve had a love affair with France since I was sixteen when my parents put me on a plane and sent me to visit my aunt and uncle for three weeks. It was all over for me after that. I was obsessed. I spent 3 summers of my college career in France, studying French, fine arts, and fashion. I just couldn’t get enough. It’s a second home to me. Simon and I went five years ago as newlyweds, and it was a less than pleasant experience as it was just the beginning of my bout with ulcerative colitis. I felt betrayed by my body, and somewhat by my favorite city as I could not get out of there fast enough. So it’s time to go back. I started feeling the itch a few months ago, and it’s been building ever since. I was watching airfares over this past week and something clicked. We found a deal. I posed the question to Simon, “Shouldn’t we go?” And in the most famous words Simon has perhaps ever uttered, he replied, “I can’t think of any reason not to go.” Now THAT’S what I’m talkin’ about! I love a man who can deal with my spontaneity! So I booked the flight and I’ve been doing a happy dance ever since. Literally. I literally did a jig in the mirror. Neither Simon nor I have stopped smiling since. We leave in early June and it’s going to be absolutely fantastic. We’re hopeful to tack on a trip either to Normandy or the Cote d’Azur in addition to Paris. I will definitely be blogging the experience, and cannot wait to get filled up with fresh inspiration!
