Catching up

Miscellaneous

First of all, I wanted to say how thankful both Simon and I are for the outpouring of love and support from all our family and friends, both near and far, in light of my post last week on our employment sitch. Seriously, you guys are the best. The best. Even those of you that I don’t know in person, who I have gotten to know here online, I am thankful for as well. We read each and every comment, and try to respond to most.

We just keep on keepin’ on here. Last week on our anniversary, we took Jude for his first real, non-mother-given haircut. Up until now, I’ve been trimming him up from time to time, but lately he just won’t sit still long enough for me to clip with confidence. I’m afraid that I’m going to jab him or something if he turned suddenly. We went to Snip-Its, which is like a SuperCuts for kids. It took all of five minutes, and $20 later, we were out the door. There was some initial distress at being put in the chair and caped, but then the girl offered him a sucker, and he was a happy camper with sucker in one hand, and golf ball in the other. Now my baby is a big boy and we have just giggled at him for days now.

Afterward, there was celebratory Chick-Fil-A at the mall with Daddy. This made him super happy.

Tonight, we will go to a cooking class in honor of our anniversary. There’s a cute little dishes-and-catering shop here in OKC, and they offer classes multiple times a month. It’ll basically be a five-course meal, but hands-on. I’m super amped. Other than that, we’ve been doing stuff around the house and enjoying each other’s company.

In other news, my mom is doing well, I am happy to report. She is scheduled to go to John Hopkins’ vasculitis clinic in September, and we are all so so thankful that she got the appointments. Mom seems more and more like herself every time I see her and that is encouraging.

Ok, that’s the extent of my random news for now. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who’s commented. Oh, and Uncle Kermit, don’t think we aren’t looking into airfare. 😉
