If you’ve been following my adventures on Instagram, then you’ve probably seen all the fun we had last weekend at the Holiday Pop-Ups in Midtown OKC. You guys, it was the best.weekend. ever. I mean, I thought that last year’s pop-ups in the Myriad Gardens were stellar, but this year blew it out of the water. We had a nonstop stream of amazing customers from the minute we opened (actually, about an hour before we even opened, every single day!) until closing at 9pm. I couldn’t believe how excited everyone was!
This year the Pop-Ups are set up in a grassy little hillside near St Anthony Hospital in Midtown OKC. It’s the perfect little spot – easy parking, and great views of downtown OKC. There are six different geodesic domes – igloos! – on the property, as well as a Christmas tree lot and a “snow fortress” for the kids to go climb all over. And everyone who came in couldn’t stop raving about how cool the domes were. We even had heating and air conditioning in there. Simon kept saying that maybe we should get one instead of the lake house we’d been looking at (erm, no.)
But the total showstopper of the entire event?
Definitely the honeycomb tissue paper balls I ordered thanks to Studio DIY! I mean, don’t they just look amazing against that white domed ceiling?
I had a grand total of four gorgeous white Christmas trees and everyone who came in the door oohed and aahed over them. They were especially a favorite with the kids.
We also had my computer set up in the corner with the shop website pulled up on it so we could take custom orders. Nancy was there with me all weekend and was a HUGE help! I literally had zero down time – it was slammed from opening to close.
Our bestsellers were the melamine trays, notepads, and pencils — I’m completely sold out of pencils for the holiday season! I also ordered a few specialty items like spiralbound notebooks that I haven’t put up in the shop yet. They were such a huge hit at the pop ups that I’m definitely going to add them this week.
My Land of Nod striped totes were also crazy popular – everybody wanted to buy them!
Since the Merry & Bright melamine platter did so well, I also designed it for lucite trays and they’re available to ship in time for the holidays!
Uptown Candy was gracious enough to send over some of the fun products they’ve developed for their new store! We sold TONS of those smores kits – they come with marshmallows, milk chocolate bars, graham crackers, and even skewers for the marshmallows. All it needs is the fire to toast them.
I can’t say thank you enough to everyone who helped this past weekend happened. It was a total whirlwind of setup, shop, and then teardown. Big huge thanks to: Simon, Nancy, my brother Earl, nieces Blythe & Amelia (the bestest honeycomb tissue paper ball assembly team), Allison Bailey, my sister Amy, my parents and my in laws for helping with Jude and #thepoopies.
Remember – every weekend from now til Christmas is a different set of retailers at the OKC Pop Ups. Check out the schedule for the complete listing!
