Back in action
That pretty much describes my week right there in one word. UGH.
This week has been pretty much a wash. I feel like I have absolutely NOTHING to blog about since all we did all week was lay around and be sick. Poor Juder. First it was fever, then it was coughing, then it was vomiting and poopin’, and then there was a lovely red rash all over him. ::sigh:: The joys – the THRILLS! – of motherhood. Because then I got it too. Well, not all of that – just the sore throat and the coughing and the achies.
To top it off, the laptop up and kicked the bucket on me. Just keeled over and died. Proverbially, of course. It was fine one moment, and then literally 30 minutes later, it was dead as a doornail. I took it to the Apple Store and the alleged geniuses were of zero assistance and swore up and down that there was nothing they could do to restore my data. All those photos! All those fonts! All that work! GONE!
Guys, go RIGHT NOW AND BACK UP EVERYTHING YOU HAVE. NOW. I’ll wait. Because all those precious photos of your kiddos are worth the time so just GO DO IT.
Anyway, Earl and Simon both told me to go back and get the laptop before they took out the old dead hard drive and take it to the local Mac specialist, who was miraculously able to restore all of the data and was also able to put in a brand new hard drive. Whew. Total relief. So now I’m playing catchup on some birthday invitations, advertisements and postcards for Uptown Kids, as well as a few other things for Jude’s birthday party.
Let’s see, what else. Oh yeah. It rained off and on all week, so we’ve been intermittently playing outside on the treehouse/pirate ship. The neighbor kids are over a lot, and that’s fun for Jude. Friday night, Simon and I had a date for the first time in a long while, so we went out to eat at Republic and then over to the movies. DIVINE. I LOVE date night!
And after feeling a wee bit on the fluffy side, I’ve decided that I need to get my rear back into running, so I went last night for the first time in a couple of weeks (!). Last night as I was running, there were a lot of cars parked on the street, and then I noticed a really large tour bus. One house was all lit up inside, like it was bursting at the seams with partygoers, and in the large picture window sat an older woman who was being serenaded by a large cowboy with a guitar and enormous black cowboy hat while everybody in the room was taking their picture. I really wonder who it was. When I looped back around, the concert was apparently over, as everyone was snacking on hors d’oeuvres. The idea flitted through my head – could I just hop on in and grab a snack and would anybody say anything? 😉
I kept on running.
Well, there you have it. A post about nothing at all. Of sickness and health. Of crashed hard drives and restored data. How was your week?
