Me versus the Bunny Toile

Interiors

Who doesn’t love a good makeover? I love seeing befores and afters. And I am particularly happy to see this makeover completed!

When we bought our house, the first thing that had to go was the bunny toile wallpaper in the upstairs bathroom. Outfitted with beautiful white subway tile and a black vanity, the bunny toile just didn’t go with the vision that I had for a Restoration Hardware-esque bath. The funny thing is that when people have come over to see the new house, that’s the one thing that everyone loves. “Noooooooo!” they cry, when I tell them how I detest the bunnies. “How can you hate the bunny toile?!?! It’s so sweet!”
Bunnies, you have seen your day. And you have now met your match. I am happy to announce that the bunnies have been eradicated, and the walls have been beautifully textured by my oh-so-texturally-talented sister in law Carolyn (Thank you again, Carolyn! You did a marvelous job!). Today, Jude took an exceptionally long nap, for which I was most grateful, and it allowed me to get the bathroom painted (Martha Stewart for Lowe’s: Jadeite Bowl). I am super-pleased with how it turned out. I was also able to hang our Pottery Barn mirror that was given to us by some friends of our family. We’ve been hanging onto it for quite some time, and now it finally has a home!

I’ve also got my framed San Francisco prints up (my original inspiration for the color of the walls — there’s a little bit of this color in nearly all of the prints) and I’m just pleased as punch.
All we need now are some drawer pulls and the shower curtain installed! Strangely enough, there were none put on the vanity; maybe they forgot??? Oh well, I need to track some down…

with love,
Rachel
