Shop Update: iPad Cases

I wanted to give you a quick update on shop-related matters. Over the next couple of weeks, I’m working on phasing out of our clothbound iPad folios and moving towards the hardshell cases for iPad 2/3/4 and Mini.  This is for a couple of reasons, and I wanted to give you a little insight onto this.

Back when the iPad was released, many of the iPhone case manufacturers (mine included) were scrambling to get their hands on customizable iPad cases in the same hardshell version as the iPhone contemporaries. But for whatever reason, these were delayed for months. And months. And months. With no foreseeable end in sight.  I knew that I wanted to offer iPad cases to my PSS shop, so I began to research alternatives, and that led to the clothbound folio-style cases that I’ve been carrying ever since.

Don’t get me wrong – I’ve been entirely happy with the product itself. But when the hard shell versions became available, I was conflicted. Was it confusing to the customer to offer two versions? After a few months of using the hard shell version on my own iPad Mini, I began to fall in love with how simple & streamlined it was.  The protection offered to the Mini, particularly, was excellent, and it was much lighter weight to toss into my bag, not to mention the bulk.

And from the production perspective, I can get these hardshell cases WAY faster and easier. My main complaint with the current iPad cases had nothing to do with the product themselves; it’s more due to the way the production company is structured. There is no easy way to upload orders; invoicing is a pain in the rear; turnaround is abysmally slow (in comparison to the iPhone cases). So last week I came to my breaking point and decided I’d had enough of messing with them. I think you the customer will be happier with this product not only for the quality but also for the customer service. And I KNOW I will be happier because YOU are happier.

I’ve still got a few more of the iPad 2/3/4 folios in stock & ready to ship, but we won’t be accepting any custom orders for the clothbound versions as of now. I’ve been working on adding the designs back to the shop in the hardshell versions that can be fully customized just like the folios were.  Additionally, these offer more in the way of convenience than even the folio versions. There are holes for the rear-facing cameras, and the regular iPad versions are totally compliant with the SmartCovers, which has been a huge sticking point with many customers who prefer the ease of the on/off function included with those.

Thank you so much for understanding as we move forward! I appreciate each & every customer so very much and I want you to be as happy with your PSS product as I am.  Don’t hesitate to drop me a line via Etsy or here as a comment if you have any questions.
