It’s already Friday! Whew! Another week with plunging cold temperatures. Wouldn’t a sunny beach resort be great right about now? While we may not be going anywhere warm, per se, we are headed south to Dallas this weekend for a grownup getaway, just me and Simon. We could really use the break; it’s been a long couple of weeks! I’m feeling better, and I’m looking forward to spending time alone w/ the hubs.

A couple of weeks ago, we visited Architectural Antiques & Dead Peoples’ Stuff here in Oklahoma City. Immediately I was intrigued because anything called “Dead Peoples’ Stuff” has got to be good. And good it was. Housed in an industrial warehouse, it is chock full of all kinds of architecturally interesting pieces: doorframes, windows, gorgeous light fixtures, mantels, . . . I could go on and on.There was a whole row of these old sinks, as well as mirrors. Even a bunch of old toilets (ick). Prices in general were not cheap, in my opinion. However, it is definitely worth a visit because you never know what kind of little pearl you might find. There’s also an entire section dedicated to vintage hardware and doorknobs. Unsure as to the exact age of many of the items, though. I believe there are some reproductions thrown in as well, so be on the lookout.I really adored all of these apothecary cabinets. They had several, and each were fastidiously labeled. Wouldn’t it just be marvelous for all those little crafty knickknacks that you don’t know what to do with? Gorgeous.Ten or more years ago, Architectural Antiques was housed in an interesting, albeit much smaller, building in Bricktown. I remember really loving it and poring over all the interesting little bits and bobs. I was so happy to find it again. If only I could find use for some of these really amazing pieces, and some of the light fixtures! I had my eye on a few old schoolhouse pendants. But it was these two enormous carriage house light fixtures that really took the cake. They are huge in scale, but man, in the right space . . . perfection.And finally, how ’bout a few old cash registers?
