High Point, Part 2

Interiors

Today is part 2 of 3 in my High Point spring market wrapup (see part 1 here). By day 2, I was a little better mentally prepared in what to expect. And I also remembered to have cash for parking this time! I picked up Courtney from French Country Cottage, who is absolutely lovely and funny and fab. On our tour agenda for the day was a wide variety of showrooms, most of which I wasn’t previously familiar.

The thing about High Point is that there’s something for everybody. Because home decor trends don’t necessarily shift quite as quickly as, say, fashion, the odds are pretty high that you’re going to find something that fits your aesthetic.

VANGUARD

Vanguard was easily one of my favorite showrooms. Loaded with style and color, it had some pretty fantastic upholstery options, as well as custom case goods (think Hollywood Regency bamboo dressers in practically any finish). Check out this aqua velvet headboard – it’s upholstered in Crypton velvet, which is treated to be stain repellent. They did a demonstration showing how the fabric reacts to liquids and it was fascinating to watch the way the soda beaded up and literally rolled right off.

This blue velvet banquette was one of my most favorite things ever. That color! And what a chic way to provide seating in a corner of your kitchen.

UNIVERSAL

Universal had some gorgeous pieces with pops of color here and there, and we were all dying over this hot pink wall (so much hot pink everywhere!). In their main showroom, it was all about linen, grey, and wood. Masculine overtones and metallics also were a strong theme. If you love the look of lines like Restoration Hardware, you’d love Universal.

NOURISON

Nourison gave us a tour of their sumptuous showroom full of the softest rugs I’ve ever felt. I also fell hard for their Calvin Klein rugs, particularly the Moroccan shags in rich navy. The shag rug trend is definitely going strong.

The depth of color in these silk rugs was so intense. And they were so buttery soft.  All I could think was, NARY A DOG NOR CHILD SHALL STEP FOOT ON A RUG OF THIS DIVINITY.

HARP & FINIAL

Harp & Finial offers a wide variety of modern accessories, lighting, pillows, and furniture. So many great metallic pieces to choose from, like this wall of regency mirrors. Have you noticed how much matte black has popped up everywhere too? I think we’ll see a lot more deep charcoal and moody blacks as time goes on.pencil shavings studio birkenstocks preppy-13

HILLSDALE

Hillsdale invited us all for a party and showed us around their designer showcase area. Loaded with industrial accents, several of their pieces would be great for a boy’s bedroom. Again with the metallics being a strong trend, like in this studded headboard.

Ok, that does it for day 2! One last roundup to come on our final day at High Point…
