The Front Door is Painted!

Our House

Getting the front door painted has been on the to do list for a few months now. We’ve been enjoying the new front door but with the mayhem of the holidays, all of a sudden it was March before we could get it painted. So on a beautiful morning at Crack Of Dawn O’Clock, the painter showed up.

And Internet, I kid you not, he painted all day until 4 in the afternoon. One door. I’m still scratching my head about this. But he was excellent, didn’t charge us despite the HOURS OF HIS LIFE spent painting the darn thing, and it’s now done. DONE.

Which is good, because #hometour. T-minus how many weeks til April 23?

Let’s not worry about that just yet. Let’s look at pretty pictures. Here —

The inside is now a lovely shade of Benjamin Moore’s China White which is perfect with all the existing trim and the Thibaut wallpaper. With all that pattern, your eye needs a resting place. I was so sick of looking at the naked front door in its weird flesh color. The white makes me go “AHHHHH” every time I pass by.

And the exterior of the door is now a gorgeous shade of blue, Benjamin Moore’s Lucerne (also the same shade we chose for the dining room, incidentally). We wanted a blue that reminded us of favorite doors in France –  that perfect gorgeous French blue like a Goyard trunk. YUM.

It’s perfection against our red brick and dark gutters/trim.

The landscaping situation is dreadful still as we begin to emerge from winter, but we’re slowly accessorizing the porch and I’m hunting for a cute new doormat (seen one you like?). I picked up these lanterns from Target and they remind me of the hardware on those Goyard trunks in the photo. I’m also going to design some outdoor pillows for our porch bench.
