I’m really feeling the color red lately – a real true, tomato-y rouge and it seems like it’s popping up in my life these days. I blame J.Crew, really – they were putting out these gorgeous cherry hues and suddenly I was picking up a piece here or there, like this rugby tee.
And then there was the lipstick — Suddenly I felt all ’50s Mad Men everytime I swiped some on. It was bolder than I was used to, but now I’m really loving it. I’m in love with Nars’ Shanghai Express, although I hear Flamenco is good too.
Luckily it seems to be sticking around for spring next year – wouldn’t you love an occasion to wear these dresses to?

My lifestyle leans more towards this ASOS skirt, though, these days.
And it’s funny how inspiration works – suddenly I was designing stuff that includes that same cherry tomato red.
I’m amazed at how many colors that red really works with. We tend to think of red and pink as a no-no, but they really are so lovely together. Same with red & camel — a perfect way to tone down that bright punch of color if you’re not so inclined to boldness.
Jude and I went to the Paint’n Station this past week (a paint-your-own-pottery place) and I did a set of plates and then this pretty little vase. I’m thinking these would be good Christmas presents! It was so fun and surprisingly relaxing, just sitting there painting away. The bonus was that there was zero mess for me to have to clean up.
How about you? Are you a red person? Have you bought into the red lipstick trend yet?
